The Tormenting Greed

The Night Watchman of the Viking vessel is in a mental torment.

How could I ever kill my teacher?
He guided me to live and to navigate.
He is like a father to me,
Like a brother to many vikings..
Yet it is time for me to get my power,
My riches, respect from all. I cannot wait any longer
I need to help myself
It is my time to get rich and to enjoy
The power, fame and glory,
Lead this ship
I will no longer take the beating
Give away my aouthority.
So I have to go to our captain with my sword
My sword screams out my name, calls me me to action
It is decided, It will be done

The Finnish Olderman witnesses the mental fight of good and evil and as the sword is poised to strike in a greed´s desperation to kill the Viking chief, the righteous Finn cannot stand still to watch the events develop, but intervenes.

The greedy Viking ends in the murky bottom muds of the river. The Viking Chief has to quietly admit to himself that he owes his life to the Finn.

He does not show his change of attitude openly, thus his arrogance remains, but misses all the tints of the earlier cruelty.
